Instructor Scholarship!

What a great way to start off the New Year! PATH Intl.’s What Is New page just announced that they are partnering with the American Paint Horse Foundation “to benefit potential instructors… this alliance will provide scholarship assistance to potential instructors of therapeutic riding“!!!

PATH reports that “The average cost of registration for a PATH Intl. certification workshop and test, which takes place over three days, is $800.” I can vouch for that, mine cost even more because I took lessons and had to drive long distances to the barn!

But get this, “The American Paint Horse Foundation seeks to assist individuals interested in certification through the application and acceptance of one-time $800 scholarships”! They will be giving out 2 annually!

If you want to apply, you must be a first time applicant, an APHA member, a PATH Intl. member, “meet the criteria to become a Registered Level Instructor In Training and have completed at least 10 hours volunteering at a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center”. Note that “While open to anyone with skills in equine management, horsemanship, instruction, teaching methods and disabilities, preference for scholarships will be awarded to medical professionals.”

“Click here for more information on becoming a PATH Intl. Certified Registered Instructor. … To apply, download the PATH Intl. scholarship application and the horsemanship skills checklist. If you have any questions, contact Jan Anderson of the American Paint Horse Association at (817) 222-6414 or janderson@apha.com. Applications should be postmarked by March 1, 2013. Scholarship recipients will be notified by April 1, 2013.”

Best of luck to those that apply!
